Connected camping: Day 2

What a great day! Jack is officially the Newt Hunter. We stopped counting the number of newts he caught today. Little Elise is completely in awe of him. To further is iconic stature, Jack purchased Otter Pops for several kids when walking back from the swimming beach. They all think he is the coolest guy in the world!

Calvin got to fish, go for a paddle in the boat, swim, catch newts, make smores, take a walk with Dad, and hear the famous minnow bucket story again. (If you don't know the story, lets just say not one of my more in control/aware moments.) He played with "cousin" Adam.

Lauren and Bridget are nearly inseparable. I am glad she found someone to pal around with.

Lucy got a lot of swimming in. She was so tired that she found here way into the tent long before anyone else thought of going to bed. A very happy dog.

Holly and I paddled around in an uncoordinated display to embarrass all the kids.

Tomorrow we head home. Calvin was a little sad just now as I told him. He is telling me now, that I should leave my laptop at home next camping trip.

The jury is in: I am a geek

Greetings from Lake Sylvia State Park campground! I am camping and computing. If my battery never died, I would call this heaven. I guess when it is all said and done I am a geek at heart.

I really just brought the laptop to check the digital photos I might take. Since it is here, I might as well use it....

I am sitting by the campfire, Lucy by my side, listening to the kids play cards over the whispering crackle of the burning logs. It is a great feeling and I am a lucky man to be able to do this. I am glad the kids like camping. Holly too. She has become quite the pro at packing.

This is a perfect ending to a crazy week. I drove to Yakima, WA then to Richland, WA on Wednesday and Thursday. Should be home all week but gone again next weekend - Supper Club goes to the Beach!!! Then looking forward to hiking the Narrows in Zion Natl Park the weekend after that. When it is all said and done, I will have not slept in my own bed on a Saturday night the whole month of July. For those of you keeping score, we spent the 4th of July weekend in Florence OR. What a great time with our friend Jim, Jane, and Simon. Photos to follow eventually!

Hope you are having a great weekend. Perhaps photos and more blog tomorrow night. OHHHHH - welcome to the world Grace! We are so glad you are here. I am sure you are keeping your parents busy. They are great people who I am sure will be great parents!
